Plain-English answer
What is a triple-line dialer?
A triple-line dialer, or 3-line dialer, is a multi-line power dialer that calls three phone numbers at once for one agent. Most calls on a prospecting list never reach a person: they ring out, hit voicemail, or reach a number that is out of service. Dialing three at a time means you spend that waiting on three calls instead of one, so a live owner reaches you sooner. When someone answers, RealDialer connects them to you with their record already open and winds down the other lines.
How it works
How three lines at once actually works
Triple-line dialing sounds chaotic until you see it run. Here is what happens on each line, including the moments people ask about most: two answers at once, voicemail, and abandoned calls.
One wave of calls
Three numbers ring. One conversation wins.
Pick a list, set Lines to 3 and press dial. RealDialer rings three numbers in parallel. The first live answer is connected straight to your headset with the contact's name, property and history on screen. Unanswered lines ring at least 15 seconds before they are released, and the next numbers dial as soon as lines free up.
A fictional wave on an expired listing list:
- Line 1 (615) 555-0142 live answer, connected to you
- Line 2 (615) 555-0178 still ringing, released after its ring time
- Line 3 (615) 555-0193 answering machine, logged
- Next (615) 555-0127 dials when you tag the conversation
Two people answer
What happens when two homeowners pick up together
Even when two people answer within a breath of each other, the phone network reports one answer first. RealDialer connects that first confirmed answer to you. If a second person answers after that, they hear your account's identification message, and the call is recorded as an overflow answer in your session report. The second answer never replaces the conversation you are already in.
This is why line count matters. At three lines two answers at once happen far less often than at five or fifteen, which is a big part of why three lines suit most solo agents. The full call flow is in what happens when two homeowners answer at once.
Voicemail and abandonment
Machines, abandoned calls and the guard
When a line reaches an answering machine, the call is logged and the dialer keeps moving. Where your calling terms allow a recorded message, one click drops your pre-recorded voicemail and moves you to the next call.
An abandoned call is a person who answers and does not reach you. RealDialer watches abandonment per campaign and slows its own pace before you approach the 3 percent line, then speeds back up when it is safe. You do not have to babysit a setting.
Who it is for
Why three lines is the sweet spot for solo agents
Three lines cut most of the waiting out of a call block while keeping the session easy to follow. Multi-line dialing reaches 3 to 5 times more owners per hour than single-line dialing, and at three lines you still have time to glance at the record before you say hello.
- Solo agents running a daily one or two hour call block
- Expired listing, FSBO, FRBO and circle prospecting lists
- Agents moving from a single-line dialer who want more conversations without a crowded screen
- Anyone who wants to set each session's pace: one line for sphere calls, three for cold lists
Calling rules
Every dial is checked before it rings
Line count changes how fast you work. It does not change the rules. Before each number dials, RealDialer checks the calling-hours law where the contact is and where you are, and the stricter rule wins. Records outside their window are held with a plain-English reason and requeue themselves the moment the window opens.
Do-not-call flags from your imports are honored on every dial, and recording follows the consent rules for both ends of the call. RealDialer gives you tools that help you follow federal and state calling rules. You remain responsible for your own compliance with the TCPA and applicable law, including your do-not-call obligations. The compliance engine page covers the details.
Plan and price
Foundation: the 3-line dialer plan
Foundation is RealDialer's starting plan and its triple-line dialer. You can run any session at 1 line or at 3.
Three parallel lines, all calling minutes inbound and outbound, local caller IDs sized to your calling, the built-in CRM with 100,000-row imports, preview and predictive dialing, voicemail drop, the 51-state compliance engine, 30-day call recordings with standard transcripts, and white-glove onboarding. No setup fee, no contract, cancel anytime.
Every line count
Single-line, triple-line, 5-line or 15-line
Every RealDialer plan can dial one line at a time. The plan you pick sets the most lines one session can run, and you choose the pace for each session from 1 line up to that ceiling.
Questions
3-line dialer questions
What is a triple-line dialer?
A triple-line dialer, also called a 3-line dialer, is a multi-line power dialer that calls three numbers at once for one agent and connects the first live person who answers. RealDialer's Foundation plan is a triple-line dialer.
How much does RealDialer's 3-line dialer cost?
Foundation, the 3-line plan, is $89 per agent a month. Calling minutes, local caller IDs, the CRM and call recordings are included. There is no setup fee and no contract.
What happens if two people answer at the same time?
The first confirmed answer is connected to you. A second person who answers after that hears your account's identification message, and the call is logged as an overflow answer. It never replaces the call you are on.
Is a 3-line dialer legal for real estate cold calling?
Parallel dialing is legal when it is done responsibly. RealDialer checks every dial against state calling hours, holds each campaign under a 3 percent abandonment ceiling and rings every call at least 15 seconds. You remain responsible for your own TCPA and do-not-call compliance.
Can I dial fewer than three lines on Foundation?
Yes. You set the pace for each session from 1 line up to your plan's ceiling, so a Foundation account can run a single-line session on a sphere list and a 3-line session on expireds.
Is a 3-line dialer enough?
For most solo agents, yes. Three lines remove most of the waiting while keeping two answers at once uncommon. Full-time prospectors working large cold lists often choose the 5-line Operator plan.
Do I need a separate CRM?
No. The CRM is built in on every plan: imports up to 100,000 rows, dedupe, preserved DNC flags, calling lists, callbacks and pipeline stages.
