Plain-English answer
What is a single-line dialer?
A single-line dialer is a power dialer that places one call at a time. You still skip the manual work of looking up and typing numbers, because the dialer moves down your list on its own, but it never rings a second number while you are on the first. That makes every answered call yours, keeps abandoned calls at zero, and trades away some speed. In RealDialer you get single-line dialing by setting the Lines picker to 1 for a session, or by turning on One line while I am connected in your calling settings.
How it works
Power dialing without the second ring
Single-line dialing is the calmest way to use RealDialer. It is still a power dialer, so the gaps between calls disappear. It just never asks you to choose between two people.
The basics
How a single-line session runs
Pick a list, set Lines to 1 and press dial. RealDialer calls the first number with the contact's record already on your screen: name, property, past attempts and notes. If the person answers, you are talking. If the phone rings out, the call is logged and the next number dials. When you hang up, you tag the outcome in one click and the dialer moves on.
Here is a fictional stretch of a single-line call block:
- 9:00 (615) 555-0142 no answer, logged, next number dials
- 9:01 (615) 555-0178 answering machine, voicemail logged, next
- 9:02 (615) 555-0193 live answer, 6-minute conversation, callback set
- 9:09 (615) 555-0127 dials as soon as you tag the last call
Two ways to turn it on
The Lines picker, or one line while you are connected
For a single session, choose 1 in the Lines picker when you set up your call block. The button reads One call at a time.
If you want it every time, turn on One line while I am connected in your calling settings. From your next call block only one line dials at a time, and the Lines picker stays at 1 while the setting is on. The setting is yours alone, so it does not change how anyone else on the account dials.
Who it is for
When one line is the right line count
Single-line dialing fits calls where every answer matters more than how many dials you make in an hour.
- New agents learning the rhythm of a call block before running several lines
- Sphere of influence and past client calls, where a missed hello costs a relationship
- Callbacks and warm follow-up lists that answer more often than cold lists
- Agents who want zero abandoned calls on a campaign, every time
- Anyone who wants to read the record before each call in preview mode
The tradeoff
What you give up by dialing one number at a time
Speed. On one line you wait through every ring, every voicemail greeting and every number that is no longer in service. On cold lists where most calls go unanswered, that waiting adds up. Multi-line dialing reaches 3 to 5 times more owners per hour than single-line dialing, which is why the 3-line dialer is the starting plan.
Nothing else changes. Voicemail drop, rapid-fire requeue, call recordings, the built-in CRM and the calling-hours checks all work the same on one line as on fifteen. You can dial one line on your sphere list in the morning and three lines on expireds in the afternoon on the same plan.
Calling rules
Every dial is checked before it rings
Line count changes how fast you work. It does not change the rules. Before each number dials, RealDialer checks the calling-hours law where the contact is and where you are, and the stricter rule wins. Records outside their window are held with a plain-English reason and requeue themselves the moment the window opens.
Do-not-call flags from your imports are honored on every dial, and recording follows the consent rules for both ends of the call. RealDialer gives you tools that help you follow federal and state calling rules. You remain responsible for your own compliance with the TCPA and applicable law, including your do-not-call obligations. The compliance engine page covers the details.
Plan and price
Single-line dialing is included on every plan
There is no separate single-line plan. Every plan dials one line whenever you set it to, and keeps its full line count for the sessions where you want speed.
Foundation is $89 per agent a month and runs 1 to 3 lines. Calling minutes, local caller IDs, the CRM, call recordings with standard transcripts and white-glove onboarding are included. No setup fee, no contract, cancel anytime.
Every line count
Single-line, triple-line, 5-line or 15-line
Every RealDialer plan can dial one line at a time. The plan you pick sets the most lines one session can run, and you choose the pace for each session from 1 line up to that ceiling.
Questions
Single-line dialer questions
What is a single-line dialer?
A single-line dialer is a power dialer that calls one number at a time and dials the next number for you when the call ends. It removes manual dialing without ringing a second number while you are talking.
Is a single-line dialer the same as a power dialer?
Yes, in the way most agents use the words. A power dialer dials your list automatically, one call after another. A multi-line or parallel dialer rings several numbers at once. RealDialer does both, and one line is simply the slowest and calmest setting.
How do I dial one line at a time in RealDialer?
Choose 1 in the Lines picker when you set up a call block, or turn on One line while I am connected in your calling settings so every call block dials one line. The setting applies only to you.
Can a single-line dialer cause abandoned calls?
No. Abandoned calls happen when someone answers while you are already on another call. With one line ringing at a time, nobody can pick up while you are talking, so abandoned calls stay at zero.
Do I need a special plan for single-line dialing?
No. Every plan dials one line whenever you set it to. Foundation at $89 per agent a month is the lowest price and also gives you 3 lines for the sessions where you want them.
Should a new agent start on one line?
Many do. One line, often in preview mode, lets you read each record and settle into the conversation. When you want more conversations per hour, the same plan runs three lines.
Dial one line, or three, on the same plan
White-glove onboarding is included on every plan. We set up your numbers, load your first list, and walk your first session with you.
