How calling hours work

Every dial is checked against calling hours at the moment the call is placed. RealDialer looks at the contact's state on the contact's clock, and your state on your clock. Both have to be open, or the call waits.

What it is

Every dial is checked against calling hours at the moment the call is placed. RealDialer looks at the contact’s state on the contact’s clock, and your state on your clock. Both have to be open, or the call waits.

Where to find it

Settings > Compliance > Calling hours

Steps

  1. Open Settings, then choose Calling hours under Compliance.
  2. Read the three cards at the top: the federal window, how many states are stricter, and what happens when a contact’s state is unknown.

  3. Set Your calling state under Where you are calling from, if you have not yet.
  4. Scroll to State rules. By default it shows only the stricter states. Press Show all to see every state, or type in Find a state.

Good to know

  • The federal window is 8 AM to 9 PM, in the called person’s local time, never yours.
  • Some states are stricter, for example opening at 9 AM or limiting Sundays. RealDialer applies those automatically. The strictest rule that touches a call wins.
  • A contact with no state on file is only dialed 9 AM to 8 PM, which is legal everywhere.
  • Contacts outside their window are held back and dialed when the window opens. No attempt is spent. The dialer shows them as waiting, not skipped.
  • Calling hours cannot be switched off. They are a conservative safeguard, not legal advice.
  • A state marked “Not yet checked against the statute text” is still applied, because it only narrows the window.
