What it is
A prerecorded message left in a voicemail box counts as a prerecorded call under federal law. For a sales call to a cell phone or a home line, that needs the person’s prior express written consent. RealDialer shows this notice on every voicemail drop screen.
Where to find it
Settings > Calling > Voicemail drop

Good to know
- The notice reads: use prerecorded voicemail drops only with contacts who gave written consent. Cold calls require a live voice.
- If you are calling cold lists, talk live. Leave your own spoken message on a live call rather than a drop.
- You, as the caller, are responsible for having consent. The voicemail drop section of the RealDialer terms at realdialer.com/terms explains this in full; the See Terms link opens it.
- Click to dial only and other settings do not make a drop lawful. They change how calls are placed, not whether you have consent.
- This is not legal advice. Check the rules that apply to you and the people you call.
